Lumineth

Lumineth, often called the "Land of Light," is the sprawling theocratic kingdom in southeastern Aetherra. It is the homeland of the human faction known as the Religionia, a people whose lives are dictated by faith and divine decree. The land itself is said to be blessed by the gods, boasting incredibly fertile soil, lush green forests, and serene pastures. This natural bounty is seen by its people as proof of their divine favor.

Society and Governance

The society of Lumineth is rigidly hierarchical, ruled by a council of high priests and a pontiff who interprets the will of the gods. The vast majority of the population are farmers and laborers, whose lives are simple and deeply pious. They are not encouraged to be inquisitive; faith, not reason, is the highest virtue. This societal structure has led to a deep-seated animosity towards magic and the mages of Velmyr, whom they see as heretics dealing in forbidden power.

"The gods provide the harvest, and we provide our faith. In return, the priests take their share to ensure the divine conduit remains open. It is a steep price, but what is coin compared to salvation?" - A farmer from Elandra

A defining feature of life in Lumineth is the heavy taxation levied by the church. These "tithes" are collected to fund the grand cathedrals, support the priesthood, and maintain the "Vigilant Line" fortress wall against their rivals. While this system keeps the common folk impoverished, it is accepted as a necessary sacrifice for spiritual protection. The people of Lumineth are largely ignorant of the machinations of outsiders like the scholars of Bil'mora, dismissing them as irrelevant heathens.
